Review:
A fine set that holds some appeal for the straight jazz crowd as well as the organ soul-jazz clique, with the presence of Houston Person on tenor saxophone. Smith penned most of the eight tracks, getting into some compulsive grooves on “Blues for De-De” and “Mr. Wonderful” in particular. The LP was combined with the rougher-edged 1962 live record Black Coffee on the 78-minute CD version of Black Coffee issued by Milestone in 1997.
