Review:
Reuben Wilson is undoubtedly the funkiest man to have ever sat behind the bench of the B-3. While the album we all really want to hear (*cough*) is still out of print, this is second best, and features one of his most climatic grooves, Ronnie’s Bonnie among others. – - Reuben is no be-bopper wannabe, nor is this antequated organ lounge Blues and Boogaloo… these are highly danceable rare Blue Note grooves. Like the works of Big John Patton, many of the grooves are deceptively simple with lot’s of surprizes that kinda land you straight in the jaw and go straight for the K.O. After you listen to this album ACCENT ON THE BLUES (John Patton), LEGENDS OF ACID JAZZ (Leon Spencer), FUNK INC., and CHARLES EARLAND (BLACK TALK) and well worth considering.
