A fresh look at the Blue Note catalog -- one that has a strong focus on electric funky numbers from the late 60s and early 70s! The package was put together by Ryota Nozaki of Jazztronik, and he's done a great job of finding some under-reissued gems and laying them out next to a few familiar numbers -- all in a blend that makes for a wonderful recasting of the Blue Note aesthetic! There's a few vocal tracks on the set, but most of the titles are instrumentals -- and the songs are all presented back to back, unmixed. Titles include "Off & On" by Moacir Santos, "Sunflower" by Alphonse Mouzon, "Uno Esta" by Bobbi Humphrey, "La Malanga" by Bobby Hutcherson, "Wipe Away The Evil" by Horace Silver, "Love's So Far Away" by Donald Byrd, "The Perfect Day" by Maxi Anderson, "You're Everything" by Carmen McRae, "Book Of Slim" by Gene Harris, "Let The Music Take Your Mind" by Grant Green, "Lamento" by Duke Pearson, "Congalere" by Horace Parlan, "Always There" by Ronnie Laws, and "If You Can't Handle It Give It To Me" by Lou Donaldson.
