Review:
The innovative Eric Dolphy plays alto, flute and bass clarinet solos on this set led by Juan Amalbert & His Latin Jazz Quintet. The problem is that the other musicians essentially ignore Dolphy, never reacting to his explosive flights, seemingly content to play their quiet rhythmic bop music as if he were not present. Still, Dolphy's improvisations make this odd date worth picking up.
