The Jazz Crusaders Live Sides Blue Note Re-Issue series LT - 1046
Ripped from my vinyl, excellent stuff indeed.
The Jazz Crusaders recorded four albums at the Lighthouse in Hermosa Beach during the 1960s. This out-of-print LP has highlights from their Lighthouse '68 and Lighthouse '69 sets. With bassist Buster Williams making the group (which still had original members trombonist Wayne Henderson, tenor saxophonist Wilton Felder, pianist Joe Sample and drummer Stix Hooper) a quintet, the Jazz Crusaders stretch out on a program of mostly group originals plus a fiery version of John Coltrane's "Impressions." Still, it is preferable to get the two original albums; this 1980 reissue will be almost as difficult to find. ~ Scott Yanow, All Music Guide
